New 6G Roadmap from the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space

The German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMTRF) has published its 6G Research Roadmap for the period 2025–2030, outlining Germany’s strategic approach to research and innovation for the next generation of mobile communications. The 23-page document provides orientation for research institutions, industry, and policymakers involved in shaping the future 6G ecosystem.

The roadmap defines four key fields of action:

Scientific and technological foundations and future technologies,
Application-oriented technology development,
A national transfer and innovation ecosystem, and
National and international networking.

In addition to thematic priorities, the roadmap includes concrete implementation methods and measures to support the execution of Germany’s 6G research strategy and to accelerate the transfer of research results into practical applications.
