The focus of the DIBI is the digitization of the manufacturing sector as one of the most important economic sectors in Bavaria - despite progressive structural change.
Its share amounts to more than 30 % of the gross domestic product and has a strong impact on other industries. Around 87 % of the companies here are SMEs. They face major transformation challenges from digitalization, decarbonization, the decline of combustion engines, energy shortages, skills shortages and cost increases. A second focus of the DIBI consortium is on the digital transformation of the public sector, which still lags behind and hinders sustainable and citizen-friendly operations. The goal of DIBI is therefore to support manufacturing-oriented companies (SMEs and small mid-sized businesses), start-ups and public institutions in Bavaria by stimulating, enabling and accelerating digital innovation, thus promoting competitiveness and sustainable solutions.
The eight partners of the EDIH-DIBI consortium, based in northern, western and southern Bavaria, are close to customers throughout Bavaria. DIBI offers a portfolio of more than 100 services spread across four customer-oriented work packages focusing on Analytics and AI, Digital powered Manufacturing and Cyber Resilience. Of these, 64 services are already available at project start and can be made available to other EDIHs upon request. Each service type is listed in a detailed price list (Appendix 1). Strong synergies can be exploited through a structured collaboration with the EEN Bavaria2Europe, which is also coordinated by BI.
Existing collaborations with a large number of (E)DIHs have already created European corridors that can be built upon. Metrics will be established to indicate progress in the number of customers served with basic/advanced services, while qualitative development will be continuously monitored. We expect significant long-term impact on the competitiveness of our target customers by enabling knowledge transfer and competence development as well as test-based investment decisions.
