The KNeDL Year 2022
06.02.2023
Full of verve we started into the year 2023 and are already in the middle of our activities.
But there is also an eventful 2022 behind us. In our young history as a competence network Digital Agriculture, we could already work on many topics and especially committed, imaginative people acquainted with each other, which at the beginning of the year did not even know about each other.
Modern agriculture is co-created with us and we are proud of it.
Here is an overview of our last year's activities with the KNeDL:

Smart helpers in Bavaria's fields - agricultural robots
Autonomous, safe and sustainable. What can field robots do?
Together with the Bavarian State Institute for Agriculture, we showed everything about the new, smart helpers at the Siemens Technopark Ruhstorf.
What to expect:
- Demonstrations on the technology of the most marketable field robots
- Informative on the topic of cybersecurity in agriculture
- Discussions on socio-economic aspects of field robotics
- Interesting facts about the use of drones and the relevant legal aspects
Smart Agriculture, Smart Region - The Digital Twin
The digital twin - interface of the future?
The possibilities here are manifold, also for agriculture. The digital representation of processes and the facilitated documentation of them should thus create more efficiency, but also transparency. In concrete terms, this means that a digital twin primarily serves as a decision-making and planning aid for farm management.
You can find out here what a digital twin of a farm can look like and what else digital depictions of reality are used for.

Vertical Farming - everything under one roof
What do cultivation systems look like that function in closed material cycles, detached from external environmental conditions? Be it in a high-rise building, a hall, a container or a cupboard. Take a look into the future with us and discover new ways of thinking and concepts for food production and niche agriculture.
Together with the Hans Eisenmann Forum and the TUM Venture Labs, we invited to Weihenstephan, Freising on this topic.
In addition to expert discussions and practical insights, the ideas of young companies also played an important role. All we say is Go Vertical!
From Smart Mobility to Smart Farming: Autonomous Driving in Agriculture
The frequently changing environmental conditions pose challenges for autonomous vehicles in agriculture. This means that not only the automotive industry, but also the agricultural industry, faces a number of questions before autonomous agricultural machinery and vehicles can be widely deployed. On the occasion of the third nationwide Digitaltag, representatives of the automotive and agricultural industries met on this topic at our event on June 24 at the BayWa AG premises in Munich.
Contents were:
- Opportunities with regard to economic and ecological sustainability
- Regulatory and practical challenges
- Collaboration industry and startups

Digital, regional and customer-oriented? Exploiting the opportunities of digital agricultural marketing
The demand for regional foods is increasing. At the same time, farmers are getting less and less money for their products through traditional sales channels. Various digital tools such as platforms, online stores or 24-hour sales points offer farmers opportunities to simplify process flows, attract and retain customers and market their goods directly. With this event, we educated about:
- Regional marketing strategies
- Digital agricultural marketing and its tools
- and eCommerce strategies
Bayern Innovativ Podcast - Farmer & Bot: Smarter together - Robotics in agriculture
Whitepaper - Digitalization in agriculture - How robots are changing fields and barns
And that was not all ...
The KNeDL is much more than events and exchange. We are very much looking forward to all our loyal and new partners to shape the year 2023 and to prepare and present many interesting topics for you.
Look forward to "The traveling exhibition Digital Agriculture", "News on digitization in animal husbandry" and as usual interesting events around digitization in agriculture.
Last but not least ...
We are looking forward to all that is coming and hope you are with us as usual in the middle of it instead of just being there.
