Innovation voucher for One Button Phone

With modern smartphones, you can surf the Internet, navigate in traffic and even control drones. However, the simplest functions fall by the wayside. The "One Button Phone" is intended to enable impaired people and their relatives to simply talk to each other on the phone.

Many people suffer from motor problems or impaired information processing in the brain. "For their relatives, this quickly leads to stressful situations in everyday life, for example, when they can't find out whether their parents or grandparents are well because they don't pick up the phone," says Edgar Jochheim, describing his motivation for developing a phone that is as simple as possible.

The One Button Phone is reduced to the most important functions. So that the person with limited mobility can always wear it on their body and ideally in their field of vision, the One Button Phone is similar in design to a wristwatch. A single button is used for operation. When it rings, the family member can simply accept the call. If he wants to contact his family himself or make an emergency call, he also presses the button.

Parameters such as call number and volume are programmed via smartphone app. This ensures that these settings can be made safely by relatives even over long distances. For example, they can program a call cascade that successively forwards the call to relevant people.

Innovation voucher provided support

The biggest challenge in the innovation process was developing the electronics to realize the compact design with a large operating button, adequate battery life and functions such as inductive charging in a device that can be worn on the arm. In particular, the antenna and its connection to the components for the GSM quad band had to be rethought. Project funding with an innovation voucher from the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs provided valuable support. Venyard GmbH is currently looking for investors and sales partners.
