Smart Cities & Regions

Network for technology & innovation of Bavarian Smart Cities and Regions solutions

The Smart Cities and Regions network provides Bavarian companies with networking and support services for current trends and technologies in order to accelerate the development and use of innovations for smart cities and regions.

Climate change, demographic change, global crises - these and other challenges are currently preoccupying our society. Cross-sectoral, holistic solutions are needed to make Bavaria's cities and regions future-proof, sustainable and resilient. Smart Cities and Regions have recognized the potential of digitalization and are already using a variety of digital solutions.

Strengthening the cross-sector ecosystem: Bavarian solution providers, scientific institutions and initiatives come together with local authorities and political decision-makers through event formats and trade fairs.

Accelerating holistic innovations: The network promotes the exchange of knowledge and best practices and thus supports the transfer of technology and knowledge in business and between business, science and the municipal sector. The aim is to identify synergies and provide impetus for innovative solutions that improve the quality of life in Bavarian cities and regions.

In concrete terms, this firstly means support in the development and implementation of a sustainable digital agenda. This means using new digitally supported information and participation formats to bring together existing problems in local authorities with tried-and-tested digitalization solutions. In living labs, (digital) solutions are to be driven forward in local authorities and ultimately the development of smart city/region expertise is to be promoted.

Secondly, the work focuses on the systematic promotion and support of projects for cross-sectoral data integration and the establishment of cross-sectoral cooperation, together with the other ZD.B thematic platforms.
