Profile

The FATM was founded in 1941 as an institute at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster. The FATM is thus one of the oldest institutes of the University of Münster, in which both textile industry-oriented basic research and joint research with the members of the FATM's circle of sponsors takes place. This ensures, on the one hand, a permanent gain in knowledge for the general benefit of the German textile industry and, on the other hand, enables project-specific contract research for interested member companies.

Technology

Since 1992, the FATM has included an economics department (Director: Prof. Dr. Gustav Dieckheuer) and a business administration department (Director: Prof. Dr. Dieter Ahlert). Especially with the establishment of the latter department, the research center is increasingly dedicated to company-specific problems of the textile industry. The vision and central objective of the FATM is to become the leading management and marketing research institute for the entire textile industry in Germany. In line with the focus of our future research and project work, the business management department of FATM will trade under the name "FATM - Marketing Institute for Textile Management" with immediate effect. In close cooperation with the practice, for example, the projects: Logistics Management in the Textile Chain, Controlling in the Textile Industry and Success Research and Success Design in the Textile Retail Industry. Here, the FATM works closely with the Institute for Retail Management (IfHM) at the University of Münster.
