With the 5G4Healthcare project, in which the potential and possibilities of 5G technology for healthcare are being researched, the largest 5G project of its kind in the German healthcare sector is currently being carried out at the Health and Medical Technology Campus in Weiden. Explicitly through this project, there is in-depth knowledge and expertise at the interface of healthcare and 5G technology, relating e.g. to the technical establishment of 5G campus networks, but also issues of law and regulation, economic viability, etc. Under the leadership of the Ostbayerische Technische Hochschule Amberg-Weiden, the use of 5G in the two use cases "Integrated Care" and "Homecare" is being designed, implemented as a model, tested and evaluated. During the three-year project period, so-called living labs will be created on site at outpatient and inpatient partners in regional healthcare, in which the benefits and possibilities of 5G technology for the application of digital solutions will be tested and evaluated in an application-oriented and practical manner. To this end, the scenarios will first be created in a test bed on the grounds of the OTH Amberg-Weiden at the Weiden site and subjected to a detailed as-is analysis, on the basis of which an intended target concept will be modeled in each case. The second phase of the project, "implementation", focuses on the realization of the concept. This will take place in the Living Labs, for which a 5G campus network has been implemented. Furthermore, mobile units will be installed in further Living Labs to perform the scenarios in real environments. The last phase, "Evaluation", deals with the evaluation of the scenarios carried out. The specially developed model will have a multi-perspective structure in order to systematically include the findings of the workstreams.
