An engineering firm based in Spain is seeking partners for an international consortium to develop a rapidly deployable mobile laboratory for the next HE CL3 tender. The partner sought must be from the EU or an associated country, lead an infrastructure work package, and design and manufacture the mobile infrastructure for laboratories, containers/shelters, flexible tents, equipment for safety and operations, power generation, biocontamination, and biowaste management.
Details:
A Spanish engineering company specializing in innovative security, defense and environmental solutions is seeking partners for an international consortium currently composed of companies from Belgium, Poland, Greece, Denmark and Spain.
The recent pandemic has highlighted the difficulty of detecting and quickly identifying pathogens during an outbreak, especially in remote areas and in the absence of specialized laboratories. Therefore, there is a need for a rapid diagnostic capability close to the crisis area to ensure rapid, reliable, and unambiguous detection and identification of infectious agents. The system must be rapidly deployable, lightweight, compact, and mobile so that it can be easily moved from one operational site to another.
The project has the following objectives:
- To conduct a comprehensive study of the solutions that exist today, both in terms of structures and mobile laboratory design.
- To conduct a comprehensive assessment and fabrication of new technologies for sampling, detection, and identification to achieve TRL 6-8 at the end of the project.
- Strategies to pool mobile laboratory capacity in the EU and improvements in the management of trained personnel in Europe to increase the actual diagnostic capacity as close as possible to the crisis area.
Wanted partners/ references:
SMEs (from EU countries or associated countries) are sought that could lead the development of the infrastructure. Partners could be designers and manufacturers of mobile infrastructure for laboratories, containers/shelters, flexible tents, equipment for safety and operations (HVAC, biofilters, safety cabinets.), power generation, bio-decontamination and bio-waste management.
Official deadline for the call: November 23, 2021, Expected duration of the project: 36 months
