TwinBy

With the TwinBy project, the Bavarian State Ministry for Digital Affairs (StMD) supports Bavarian municipalities in implementing digital models of objects and processes (digital twins) using their own data. Digital twins are an innovative digital tool that can be used to efficiently implement data-based analyses and solutions for many current and future challenges. Already today, Digital Twins are successfully used in some municipalities to support decision-making processes, e.g. in the fields of energy, mobility, urban planning or healthcare. With this, the StMD lays the foundation for a standardized availability and networking of data and supports Bavarian municipalities to address an important issue for them with their individual Digital Twin.

Funded municipalities are supported in setting up digital twins with the help of consulting, coaching and technical support services. As part of the project, municipalities receive access to qualification measures, software, and financial resources for professional and technical support. 

Municipalities can apply with their project ideas to the following four funding pots: 

• Energy and Environment  
• Mobility and Health  
• Cross-domain and other thematic areas  
• Small municipalities (up to 10.000 inhabitants) on all thematic areas
