Replicate activities, projects, tools in the field of Smart Cities and Regions (SCR) in Bavaria - help for self-help for those willing to implement in administration, economic development, urban and regional development, technology & knowledge transfer. What does the Free State and its ministries offer in terms of support?

Why a Bavaria-wide SCR Roadshow?

With its Bavaria Digital Strategy I+II and additional activities of the individual ministries, the Free State of Bavaria supports a large number of institutions, initiatives and funding measures to make Bavaria fit for the digital transformation.

In the meantime, there is also a growing number of interesting implementation projects in Bavaria's municipalities and regions, especially in the mobility, energy, health and eGovernment sectors. However, due to the lack of a suitable common communication platform, the projects are only known to a limited extent in other regions and are mostly limited to their own sector.

Further, the digitization offerings of the individual ministries and their downstream institutions appear to be coordinated only to a limited extent so far. They could be used even more effectively by focusing appropriately on the challenges facing smart cities and regions and cooperating in transferring them to Bavarian cities and regions. 

If Bavaria's cities and regions are to be made sustainably fit in the area of digitization, the SCR topic platform believes that what is currently needed is not so much additional innovative SCR model projects, but a targeted information and cooperation campaign on how existing SCR project experience and the various offerings of the Free State can be used even more intelligently for Bavarian cities and regions. 

To this end, standardized recording and processing of existing SCR project experiences and systematic bundling of the Free State's offers on the relevant SCR issues is required. This know-how will be brought closer to interested Bavarian cities and regions in 2020/21 in the form of a statewide roadshow, including media support. Suitable SCR implementation measures will then be further developed from the on-site events.
