The international ACT consortium has issued a new funding call called ACT4 Call. ACT (Accelerating CCS Technologies) contributes with targeted research activities to accelerate the development of CCUS technologies and bring innovations to market.
Around 14 million euros total budget is provided by the participating countries and regions. This is to promote cross-border research activities that help to reduce emissions of climate-damaging carbon dioxide. The Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection (BMWK) is supporting the new call with three million euros from the funding of the 7th Energy Research Program.
The capture, storage and utilization of carbon dioxide (CCUS for Carbon Dioxide Capture, Utilisation and Storage) are important pillars of the energy transition. Innovative capture and conversion processes can turn CO2 into an important raw material for fertilizers, paints, coatings and fuels. Carbon dioxide thus becomes a valuable raw material instead of being released into the atmosphere as a harmful greenhouse gas.
Science teams from at least two countries must jointly apply for funding
ACT4 Call is a joint call for proposals from Germany, Norway, the United States, India and the Canadian province of Alberta. Interested research institutions, universities, companies or other institutions can apply for funding jointly with at least one partner from another country. The selected research projects will be funded by the national programs of the participating states or regions.
