It is the magic that draws the two theater founders Paul Schmidt and Wally Schmidt to the theater branch of figure and object theater. The transfer of longings and desires, aggressions and questions to the world of things. The infinite possibilities of combining the visual arts with the performing arts, that is the place of research where the two passionate puppeteers feel at home. The company was founded in 1983 - at that time still as a pure touring theater. Already for many years the theater responsible persons work on it to develop ecologically and socially continuously and pursue thereby a clear vision.
Long-term we would like to take regarding lasting culture work a pioneer role in the industry. The great hope lies in the imitation effect by others. In addition, we would like to exert influence on politics and work towards ensuring that subsidies are not granted on the basis that one works cheaply, but that the sustainable aspect becomes part of the funding criteria. Even if this results in higher initial investments, which in our opinion, however, pay off in the long term and be it "only" in terms of the common good.
We would also like to secure future models with real encounters, i.e. face-to-face events, as digital solutions can never replace the immediate cultural experience and exchange vis à vis. At the same time, however, we do not want to close ourselves off to digital development, but rather integrate and - expand it where it makes sense. Finding a new operating structure as well as a new form of management, especially with regard to the generational change and thus the long-term preservation of our house, are also on the agenda.
In the search for certification in the field of sustainability, the Gemeinwohl-Ökonomie (GWÖ) was discovered in 2019 and a first Gemeinwohl balance sheet was prepared together with a peer group. The certification took place in July 2021. However, this does not mark the end of the process, but "only" a milestone on the path of continuous further development and improvement in a wide variety of areas.
Therefore, shortly thereafter, the theater was additionally examined from a different perspective as part of a Corporate Sustainablity Navigator- Assessment (CSN) in order to find further potential in the area of sustainability and to record it in an action plan. The implementation is currently being reviewed with the theater team and the sustainability experts of the Enterprise Europe Network at Bayern Innovativ.
