What are the requirements?
The Bavarian university:
- must be integrated into a start-up support network
- designates a person for mentoring
- provides the necessary resources (laboratories, workshops, rooms, computer centers as well as other infrastructures) to the start-up applicants free of charge
- administers the funding
Start-up applicants:
- must belong to the applicant university
- if they are employed by the university, this employment may not exceed a time share of 50 percent
- if they still belong to the group of students and do not yet have a bachelor's degree, at least half of the standard period of study and, if applicable. have completed the obligatory practical/abroad semester
- Teams composed of a majority of students without a bachelor's degree can only be supported in exceptional cases
- at least one person willing to found a company must be among the persons holding or co-holding the rights of use/protection
- are responsible for their own social security and other duties
Who can submit an application?
State universities in Bavaria. Submission is via the technology transfer offices or technology transfer officers.
What can be funded?
The phase before and at the beginning of an innovative start-up, in particular the development of marketable innovative products and business models as well as the start-up readiness.
In concrete terms, this includes support for those willing to start up,
- in securing their innovative, including digital, business model, which could result in a sustainable start-up
- those who were unable to complete their start-up project under the Exist funding due to particular technological challenges and have not yet been able to start a company
- whose technologically innovative, challenging and high-risk project was denied funding in the "Exist-Gründerstipendium" program
Projects that
- go beyond the state of the art or, in the case of digital business models, that are in the case of digital business models are sufficiently new,
- have clear unique selling propositions,
- have a sufficient connectivity (positive continuation forecast).
How is funded?
- Scholarship for those willing to start up: € 2,500 per month plus € 150 per dependent child
- Takeover of material expenses for the project in the amount of up to 50% of the awarded scholarships
