EDIH stands for "European Digital Innovation Hub". These hubs provide important support for companies and public institutions to master the challenges of the digital era and drive innovation. Spread across Europe, these hubs promote knowledge transfer and skills development. The EDIHs combine the advantages of a regional presence with the opportunities offered by a pan-European network. Other EDIH networks that are also based in Bavaria are EDIH DIGICARE and EDIH DInO.

The main objectives of an EDIH network include:

  • Promoting digitalization: EDIHs help companies, especially SMEs (small and medium-sized enterprises) and start-ups, as well as public administrations to use digital technologies.
  • Providing expertise and services: They provide access to technical expertise and enable new technologies to be tried out. These include AI, cybersecurity, high-performance computing and other key technologies.
  • Funding support: EDIHs provide advice on funding opportunities, for example through EU funding programs.
  • Networking and cooperation: They promote cooperation between various stakeholders, such as companies, research institutions and government authorities, both at national and European level.
  • Competence building: They support organizations in building digital capabilities and implementing innovation strategies.
