The Industrie 4.0 platform, funded by the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection (BMWK), has published a white paper on the topic of "Resilience in the context of Industrie 4.0", which was prepared by participants in the platform's working groups, transfer network and research advisory board. The ZD.B topic platforms Working World 4.0, Cybersecurity and Digital Production & Engineering have made some contributions to this.
Resilience describes the property of an organization to cushion the effects of external shocks and distortions of the social, economic and political framework and to adapt to new conditions. The whitepaper provides an overview of opportunities, activities and recommendations for action on resilience in the context of Industrie 4.0 along the focus topics, sovereignty, security of supply, robust & flexible supply chains, production systems and the role of people, education, competence and work organization, as well as standardization, standardization and legal frameworks.
Based on these focus topics of resilience in the context of Industrie 4.0, the team of authors identified three fields of action that should be addressed in the development of a resilience strategy:
- Sovereignty through open, interoperable and secure data ecosystems
- Security of supply
- Flexibility and mutability using new technologies
On the part of ZD.B topic platforms , best practice examples in particular were contributed to the white paper, which demonstrate and illustrate possible approaches to resilience in the context of Industrie 4.0. For example, the Cybersecurity topic platform contributed best practice examples on industrial cybersecurity on topics such as secure remote services, network segmentation and secure operations, software apps in untrusted environments, standards & norms, and qualification measures. The Working World 4.0 topic platform was able to contribute to the white paper on "Education, Skills and Work Organization" and the Digital Production & Engineering contributed some application examples on the topics "robust & flexible supply chains" and "production systems and the role of people".
