DanubePeerChains

The EU project "DanubePeerChains" is supported in the Danube Transnational Programme by the funds ERDF as well as IPA II and means for the cluster for the first time an advance into the Danube region.

Title Danube Peer Chains

Together with 13 project participants from the countries Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia, Hungary and Romania, work will be carried out until the end of 2022 on an integrated capacity building and training program for organizations supporting the labor market and enterprises in the Danube region, as well as for local industry and traders, so that they can enter innovative transnational value chains as cooperation participants.

Today, many industrial sectors in all parts of the Danube Region are experiencing fundamental changes. Traditional value chains are being disrupted and replaced by new paradigms of industrial cooperation. Linear workflows are changing into value creation loops and stringent market segment orientation is being replaced by cross-sector business models. These developments are leading to a fundamental change in conventional value chains that is profoundly altering labor markets. Industrial companies and employment agencies need to offer future-oriented training programs that prepare employees for the challenges of the new industrial value chains. There is a supreme need for coordinated action to survive the loss of qualified skilled workers and to avoid the threat of knowledge loss and misqualification of young people.

With this in mind, the vision of the "DanubePeerChains" project is to empower labor market and economic development organizations and the SMEs they target for a joint competence building and training approach starting in July 2020 for the following 2.5 years, in order to build novel transnational value chains, achieve lasting recognition as cooperation participants on an equal footing and thereby create highly qualified jobs in the Danube region.
