IPCEI AST: New funding measure for Europe's semiconductor industry
On June 24, 2025, the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE) and the project management agency commissioned by it, VDI/VDE Innovation + Technik, held an information event on a new European semiconductor IPCEI (Important Project of Common European Interest on Advanced Semiconductor Technologies / IPCEI AST). The IPCEI AST is currently in the process of defining objectives and identifying topics.
Following the event, a call for project ideas was launched. Interested companies have until July 21, 2025 to submit their project ideas via an online questionnaire.
The project ideas submitted will of course be treated confidentially by the project sponsor and will be used for the further conceptualization of the IPCEI AST.
This offers the opportunity to participate at an early stage in one of the most important European funding projects in the semiconductor sector.
Previous IPCEI projects have been very successful. The IPCEI Microelectronics and Communication Technologies currently comprises 12 projects in Bavaria with a total volume of almost two billion euros.
So submit your project ideas by July 21, 2025 and help shape the future of the European semiconductor industry. Further information on the IPCEI AST timetable and access to the online questionnaire can be found here
