CoSMoS 2023 - 3 questions for Valentina Contini, diconium GmbH

With our small series "Three questions to..." we interview selected personalities on various topics. The questions pick up, among other things, topics that are discussed by the interviewees in the form of keynote speeches or other activities in the context of Bayern Innovativ events.

Today we direct our short interview to Valentina Contini, Innovation Strategist, diconium GmbH, part of the VW Group. Ms. Contini is one of the speakers at our Conference on Smart Mobility Services (CoSMoS) on March 9, 2023 in Ingolstadt. Her presentation title is "What if we don't need to go anywhere? Some stories from mobility futures".

Dear Valentina, in your talk at CoSMoS we look into the mobility of the future - In which form will we be the first to experience digital realities in cars, trains or other means of transport in the future?

Valentina Contini: You don't even have to look into the future, actually. Holoride already offers everyone the opportunity to experience Virtual Reality Experiences in their cars. It works very simply: buy a starter kit, install it, and immerse yourself in virtual worlds as a passenger. Another attempt to incorporate augmented reality while driving is head-up displays. I find the use of augmented reality in trains, buses or airplanes quite exciting. Basically, only data and information are shown, but the overlay of virtual worlds opens up endless opportunities for entertainment, education, mobile working, and much more.

The metaverse is currently one of the big hype topics in the mobility sector. At the same time, people often talk about very different things. What does "metaverse and mobility" mean to you?

Valentina Contini: I don't want to give away too much of my talk.

But... the metaverse combines several elements. The individual components already exist, but they don't all play together yet. You can see these elements in different places when you look at the mobility landscape: Blockchain-based mobility super apps, digital twins of production floors, and virtual reality travel are just a few examples that exist and function separately at the moment. In my vision of Metaverse, that will no longer be the case.

What development are you most looking forward to?

Valentina Contini: I am looking forward to wonderful Enhanced Reality Experiences with my family while traveling - in an autonomous driving vehicle, of course! And I'm looking forward to the opportunity to share these experiences live with other people who may be on the other side of the world.

The future of mobility - digital, intelligent, connected and sustainable.

In 2023, these topics will again be the focus of the Conference on smart Mobility Services in Ingolstadt. The challenges facing the mobility industry remain great and are even more pressing than before due to, among other things, the current geopolitical situation. Supply chain problems and the question of energy efficiency in the economy, meet with a great interest for alternative forms of mobility in large parts of society. Smart mobility services and intelligent data applications are playing an increasingly important role. The focus here is clear. Tomorrow's mobility should not only be climate-neutral, but also as user-oriented as possible.
