Welcome to the New Materials Cluster: Chair of Ceramic Materials, University of Bayreuth

15.11.2024

We are pleased to announce the Chair of Ceramic Materials Engineering (Ceramic Materials Engineering, CME) of the University of Bayreuth in the New Materials Cluster. Under the direction of Prof. Dr. Stefan Schafföner, the chair is dedicated to the development of innovative ceramic materials and components with outstanding thermomechanical, physical, chemical and tribological properties.

The Chair's team divides its research into three main areas - precursor ceramics, powder technology and composite ceramics - and covers the entire process chain of materials development. State-of-the-art technology and highly qualified expertise are used to develop customized materials such as fracture-resistant structural ceramics, porous ceramics and high-performance composites.

We warmly welcome the chair and look forward to exciting collaboration and future innovations in the field of new materials.
