22.04.2025

On April 9, 2025, more than 70 specialists and managers gathered at the Augsburg Technology Center for the symposium "Smart Production: Next-Gen Innovations in the Context of Manufacturing-X". The event was organized by the MAI Carbon cluster, the Mechatronics & Automation cluster at Bayern Innovativ and the digital agency Team23.

The event focused on the question of how companies can implement the principles of Manufacturing-X in practice. A total of 15 specialist presentations offered practical insights into best practice examples, new technologies and interdisciplinary approaches. The event emphasized the importance of collaboration across industry boundaries and presented innovative solutions from a practical and supplier perspective on topics such as aerospace, robotics, sustainability and artificial intelligence. Particular emphasis was also placed on concrete steps on how smaller companies can benefit from Manufacturing-X, for example through AI-supported process optimization.

A highlight was the keynote speech by Bernd Beschorner, who presented visionary approaches to lunar colonization and the role of Manufacturing-X. Interactive innovation islands encouraged exchange and collaboration among the participants.

The three organizers of the symposium sent a strong signal: Manufacturing-X is not an abstract vision of the future, but has long since arrived in implementation. It not only describes a technological change, but also a mindset that opens up new dimensions of industrial value creation.

The high level of participation, the technical depth and the interdisciplinary format underline the relevance of such events.
