The Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) has published a new funding measure aimed specifically at small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The aim is to strengthen cutting-edge research in the fields of electronics, autonomous and connected driving and high-performance computing - especially for SMEs applying for the first time.
As part of the program "Microelectronics. Trustworthy and sustainable. For Germany and Europe.", the application process has been simplified and the advisory services expanded. The aim is to reduce barriers to innovation and attract new target groups for research and development.
R&D collaborations between SMEs and research institutions as well as highly innovative projects that go beyond the current state of the art and address socially relevant challenges - for example in the areas of climate protection (Green ICT) or trustworthy electronics - are particularly supported.
The measure is part of the German government's High-Tech Strategy 2025 and the BMBF's ten-point program "Vorfahrt für den Mittelstand".
