Urban mining aims to bring accumulated material stocks in buildings, infrastructures, facilities and consumer goods back into the economic cycle. This use of secondary raw materials helps to recycle critical raw materials and contributes to the German government's National Circular Economy Strategy.
The funding guideline aims to provide intelligent concepts, innovative technologies and successful application examples for integral management through urban mining. The aim is to develop market potential, meet quality standards for secondary raw materials and ensure the economic viability of urban mining. Funding is available for collaborative research projects from science, industry and practice (municipalities). The corresponding project outlines must be submitted by September 02, 2024.
