The BMBF has issued a new announcement in October 2023 in the framework of the Strategy for Research for Sustainability (FONA), on the topic "Resource-efficient circular economy - Circular sustainable textiles: development of holistic, practical solutions for closing the loop in the textile industry".
The aim of this funding guideline is to promote the circular economy as an effective climate and resource protection in the German textile industry. In addition, the research, innovation and competitiveness of the textile industry in Germany should be supported. Projects should focus on the circular economy: developing new business models, services and technologies to extend the useful life, tracking and recycling of textiles. Circular textiles must be durable, reusable, recyclable and, if possible, repairable.
R&E projects as well as networking and transfer projects will be funded. Grants are awarded by way of project funding as a non-repayable subsidy. Details on the amount of the grant and the boundary conditions can be found on the BMBF page . The procedure is two-stage and the first stage of the procedure must be submitted no later than Jan. 8, 2024. The funding measure will be handled by Forschungszentrum Jülich (Project Management Jülich, PtJ), Sustainability Division.
