What is additive manufacturing?
Additive manufacturing, also known colloquially as 3D printing, is a process used to create objects or components layer by layer by applying a material. The innovative technology is particularly suitable for the production of prototypes, complex geometries and individual parts such as prostheses. It is also being used more and more frequently in small series.
Even though there are still some hurdles to overcome, experts believe that additive manufacturing will play a decisive role in the production of the future - keyword Industry 4.0. That's why it's especially crucial for SMEs to get to grips with the technology and its potential at an early stage.
In order to get started with additive manufacturing, it's not just crucial to acquire specialist knowledge - you also need the right business partners. How roadmapping works
Roadmapping helps companies to identify important trends and topics at an early stage and to react to developments in good time. The roadmap visualizes the interaction of various factors - for example, markets, technologies and products - and their developments over a longer period of time. This creates a "roadmap" that management can use to derive long-term strategies.
