Post-Corona Urban Mobility

The Covid 19 pandemic has been affecting all areas of society since the beginning of 2020, including the economy and the mobility sector; this can be measured, for example, by changes in the use of transport. However, the trend towards more car trips is exacerbating the problem of non-compliance with emission limits in inner cities in the process.

Those shaping the future of mobility face major challenges: They must bring together a wide variety of stakeholder interests. In order to assess the long-term and short-term effects of the pandemic, the Themed Platform Networked Mobility of the Center Digitalization.Bayern at Bayern Innovativ held several workshops in the fall of 2020 in which people with industry expertise were able to share their assessments of the development of urban mobility up to the year 2030. These results were compiled into a roadmap and classified in the study. The roadmap ( viewable here ) is a strategic planning tool that presents elements on a timeline.

The key contents of the roadmap lead to the vision of green, digital, public transport-driven mobility in 2030. Quality of life in cities and digitalization play a central role as driving factors. It can be assumed that motorized individual transport will have to be scaled back and urban infrastructure increasingly geared toward more sustainable, space-saving alternatives. This will also be accelerated by digital offerings.
