The European Commission has adopted a toolbox to combat counterfeiting and piracy. This recommendation relates to how counterfeiting can be combated both offline and online and how intellectual property rights can be better protected. It aims to promote cooperation between rights holders, service providers and law enforcement authorities while supporting best practices and the use of modern tools and technologies.
The "toolbox" consists of strategic initiatives to combat counterfeiting and strengthen the enforcement of intellectual property rights and contains specific tools to increase the resilience and ability of companies to better protect their intangible assets, including against cyber theft.
