EU automotive industry: Strategic dialog begins

The European Commission has initiated a strategic dialog on the future of the European automotive industry. The aim is to work with the industry, trade unions and other stakeholders to find solutions to the challenges facing the sector and ensure the competitiveness of the European automotive industry. This dialog is intended to ensure that the European automotive industry continues to play a leading role in the global economy in the future.

The strategic dialog will start on 30 January and will consist of regular meetings involving industry representatives (manufacturers, suppliers), social partners, Commissioners and other stakeholders, including civil society.

Key discussion points include innovation, energy transition and decarbonization, competitiveness and resilience, trade relations and level playing field at international level, streamlining of legislation and process optimization.

Background:
The automotive industry is a central pillar of the European economy. However, in the face of digitalization, climate targets and global competition, it is undergoing profound change. To maintain its competitiveness and strengthen its position as a technology leader, the EU has launched a strategic dialog.
