Interreg project: RIBA - Recycling In Use

The increasingly rapid changes that can currently be observed in Europe are also affecting the construction industry. One of the most pressing issues is compliance with European and national climate targets and thus the tightening of the sustainability assessment of buildings and construction products and the demand for a more circular economy.

Recycled solid construction materials have so far only been used to a limited extent in building construction in particular. The reasons for this include legal uncertainties, a lack of information and insufficient experience. The "RiBa" project aims to make a positive contribution here.

RiBa pursues a cross-border approach, aims to remove obstacles and ensure the future viability of the construction industry in the partner regions of Upper Bavaria, Salzburg, Upper Austria, Vorarlberg and Swabia. The aim of the project is to improve the skills of the companies involved and at the same time to raise awareness of the issue of recycling in building construction among decision-makers in politics and administration.

The following activities are planned:

  • Analysis of legal regulations and normative framework conditions and thus identification of obstacles to the increased use of recycled solid construction materials in building construction
  • Development of a toolbox to support the building trade, planners and clients in the use of recycled building materials in building construction (recycled building materials catalog, innovation map with example projects, profitability calculations)
  • Training courses, seminars and information events for decision-makers, multipliers and the building trade.
