The start-up "clever-PV" has developed an app that matches solar system and consumer. Without a hardware installation is necessary.

Vendor-independent, the new mobile app of the same name can, according to Clever-PV photovoltaic system, wallbox, heat pump, heating element and other consumers via their Internet connection to couple, so that they can be operated in an optimized manner. This would eliminate the need for expensive control boxes or gateways and accelerate the decarbonization of the power supply.

Since mid-July, the company's app for i-Phones and Android can be downloaded from the app stores. The basic version is free.

The energy management setup is done on the cell phone. No additional hardware needs to be installed at home. By aligning solar power production and consumption system operation, "users save several hundred euros per year and reduce their carbon footprint," according to Clever-PV. Shifting electricity consumption to times when there is a lot of PV generation also reduces the load on the power grid and reduces the need for fossil fuels, it adds.

Danny Klose, CEO and co-founder of the company, explains about the app, "We originally developed Clever-PV for ourselves. With our solution, customers have more freedom in choosing their devices and don't need an installer to set them up." Developed one the solution in close exchange with the community of the first users.

For Klose, the new app is just the beginning. "We are already working on additional functions and on integrating more devices. Our vision is to decarbonize the power supply in an app for millions of households worldwide," he emphasized. Sector coupling and digitization are, after all, indispensable for effective climate protection, he added.

The start-up Clever-PV, based in Landsberg am Lech in Bavaria, has been active on the market since 2021 and already has more than 10,000 registered users, according to its own information. Energy providers such as EnviaM and more than 30 different manufacturers are already partners of the company.
