As part of the Bavarian Energy Research and Innovation Day, Bavaria's State Secretary for Economic Affairs Tobias Gotthardt presented awards to the winners of the "Innovations in Thermal Energy Technology" ideas competition in Nuremberg today.

Linde GmbH and Va-Q-tec AG. Gotthardt: "Our Bavarian companies play a key role in making Bavaria one of the leaders in the energy research landscape. It is also thanks to them that innovative solutions are quickly put into practice. Our common goal can only be To make Bavaria the home of the most modern, most intelligent  and most sustainable energy system in the world."

Linde GmbH had impressed with its project "Decarbonization of industrial high-temperature processes through the use of green hydrogen". Va-Q-tec AG received the award for its idea for the "Development of a non-combustible vacuum insulation panel with improved thermal insulation properties". The project aims to develop a fire protection-optimized vacuum insulation panel to reduce thermal conductivity. The panel is intended to help save large amounts of energy in the building sector.

State Secretary Gotthardt emphasizes: "Around half of the total final energy demand in Bavaria and Germany is due to the provision of heat, from space heating to industrial process heat. The high emissions make it clear how urgently we need smart solutions. The winning project outlines from Linde and Va-Q-tec impressed us with their innovative content."

The Bavarian Energy Research and Innovation Day in Nuremberg this Friday brought together stakeholders from industry and research to discuss new ideas and technologies. The Bavarian Energy Research Program is currently funding 50 projects with a total funding volume of up to 100 million euros. The focus is on hydrogen, thermal energy and storage technologies.
