In a cooperation, Siemens wants to develop sites for commercial and decentralized electrolysis plants with a capacity of 5 to 15 MW. The first projects are scheduled to start in 2023.
At the side of Norddeutsche Landesbank (Nord/LB) and the investment company "SENCO Hydrogen Capital" (Senco), Siemens Smart Infrastructure (SI) is planning the decentralized production of green hydrogen through smaller electrolysis plants.
Together, the partners want to identify suitable locations for wind and photovoltaic plants, which could receive a further revenue and marketing option through an electrolysis plant. In a first impact one has thereby in particular old plants in the view, whose EEG promotion expires and which become again more productive by the coupling to a Elektrolyseur, so a Siemens speaker in the discussion with the editorship. Generally in addition, wind and PV plants are in the view, which are at present in the building or which are still only built.
Preferentially the development of Elektrolyseuren with a nominal output of 5 to 15 MW want to stimulate the partners in this way. A fast realization is the goal. The implementation of concrete projects is expected as early as next year.
Through the specially developed, freely accessible platform "H2.JETZT!", the three companies want to attract additional partners from the financial and business sectors with a connection to the topic of hydrogen. The initiative of the same name is to create, as it further says, an entrepreneurial contribution for the creation of future-safe industrial jobs. According to Carsten Schmeding, H2 Jetzt is intended to pave the way "to strengthen the growth industry of hydrogen specifically with capital and expertise." The CEO of Senco emphasizes, "Our focus on investments both in hydrogen infrastructure and in companies that accelerate the ramp-up of the hydrogen industry with their know-how offers a great opportunity for institutional investors."
