Duisburger Versorgungs- und Verkehrsgesellschaft mbH (DVV) wants more PV electricity. Cologne-based Rheinenergie is now planning the systems for this - nationwide.
The Cologne-based utility Rheinenergie is looking for photovoltaic projects for the Duisburg municipal company DVV. The two companies have now officially agreed on this, Rheinenergie announced.
"The object of the cooperation is the Germany-wide project planning of ground-mounted photovoltaic systems by Rheinenergie, with the aim of subsequently transferring project rights to the systems to DVV," it said.
In a first step, the Cologne-based company is to plan 50 MW for the Duisburg-based company. Rheinenergie has its own in-house department that takes care of precisely these kinds of tasks. "As part of the cooperation", these employees will now also work for DVV.
A consequence of the Rhineland cooperation
Rheinenergie has held a 20 percent stake in Stadtwerke Duisburg, a subsidiary of DVV, since this summer (we reported). The Eon company Westenergie AG had transferred its 20 percent stake in Duisburg to Rheinenergie as part of the so-called Rhineland cooperation. In return, Westenergie increased its stake in Rheinenergie from 20 percent to 24.2 percent.
Potential synergy effects were already pointed out at the time. In the field of renewable energies, Stadtwerke Duisburg and Rheinenergie have already been operating joint wind farm companies for some time. The partners would now like to extend this cooperation to the field of photovoltaics, especially to the project development of ground-mounted systems, as was already stated at the time of signing the contract.
"That is why we are also happy to put our expertise and resources at the service of DVV, with whom we are also associated under participation law," said Andreas Feicht, CEO of Rheinenergie, on the occasion of the cooperation that has now been launched. Marcus Wittig, Chairman of the DVV Management Board, adds: "We want to be CO2-neutral by 2035. The support of Rheinenergie secures us a significant share of the expansion target."
