More PV systems, more e-cars, more heat pumps: homeowners with children invest in the energy transition.
10,000 people have surveyed the opinion research company Civey on behalf of Eon Energie Germany and found out: Households in which children live, own more photovoltaic systems, electric cars and heat pumps than households without children. However, only homeowners were surveyed.
In this group, according to the survey, more than one in three families has a photovoltaic system on the roof. That was 11 percent more than among those homeowners with no children living in the household. Another 29 percent of parents surveyed planned to purchase a PV system, the survey said.
The picture is also similar for heat pump and electric car use, with 17 percent of homeowners with children already using a heat pump and 11 percent running an electric car. Among childless homeowners, it was 7 percent (heat pump) and 6 percent (electric car), respectively.
Overall, the opinion researchers also see a close connection between photovoltaic system ownership and climate-friendly energy solutions. Compared to average homeowners (heat pump: 9 percent, e-car: 7 percent), the summary of findings says, those who produce solar power or plan to do so are almost twice as likely to have a heat pump (15 percent) and an electric car (11 percent).
