The Agency for Renewable Energies (AEE) launches a new project to document progress in the federal energy transition. The result is an interactive map of Germany.
Over three years, the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection (BMWK) is funding a new project by the Agency for Renewable Energies (AEE). In it, it is about the "information dissemination within the framework of the service point EE", short IRSEE. It is intended to make the "unique collection of facts and figures on renewable energies and climate protection in Germany" more visible in the federal states. The IRSEE project started in August 2023 and will run until the summer of 2027.
It builds on the established Servicetelle Erneuerbare Energien, which was originally launched as "Föderal Erneuerbar." In their framework, the AEE publishes for many years data on the status and developments in the energy transition in the individual states. This is financed by a large part of the federal states. The data include the expansion status of wind, solar and bioenergy, hydropower, geothermal and biomass, as well as successes in reducing greenhouse gas emissions or in the market ramp-up of electromobility.
In the course of IRSEE, the dataset will be programmed in a more user-friendly way and integrated on the AEE website. In addition, background papers, status reports, and descriptive infographics will be published. This will make it possible to provide a cross-state perspective, compare different approaches, and promote knowledge transfer between states, AEE said. Information dissemination should increase transparency through new online formats and provide easier access to the diverse data, it said.
By presenting the data in a clear and understandable way, AEE hopes to not only raise awareness of the importance of the energy transition across the country, but also deepen understanding of the associated challenges and opportunities. A reprogramming of the interactive map by the fall of 2024 will increase user-friendliness, he said, while continuing to provide a comprehensive and accurate representation of developments.
All datasets, publications, and graphics produced as part of IRSEE and the EE Service Agency, which will continue to run in parallel, will in the future be combined under the umbrella brand "Federal Energy Transition" and published in their entirety on the project website .
The interactive renewable energy map of Germany is available on the Internet.
