New managing director in Bayreuth

Markus Rützel will be at the helm of Stadtwerke Bayreuth from October 1. His predecessor is retiring at the end of the year. 

Markus Rützel has signed his employment contract with Lord Mayor Thomas Ebersberger at Bayreuth Town Hall, Stadtwerke announced. The Bavarian city is the 100 percent owner of Stadtwerke Bayreuth Holding GmbH. Rützel will take up his new position on October 1, succeeding Jürgen Bayer, who is retiring at the end of the year. Bayer had been Managing Director of Stadtwerke since 2009.

Markus Rützel brings extensive experience from the energy sector, the company added. He has been Managing Director of Energie Campus Nürnberg and the Nuremberg Campus of Technology since November 2021. Prior to that, he was Managing Director of Solid GmbH in Nuremberg from 2012 to 2021, focusing on electromobility for municipal utilities. According to Stadtwerke Bayreuth, the company employs around 400 people.
