The eco-energy supplier Naturstrom has implemented a tenant electricity project with photovoltaic systems for 90 apartments "Am Antoniusberg" in Straubing, Lower Bavaria.
In the future, four photovoltaic systems will supply the residents of the building complex "Am Antoniusberg" in Straubing (Bavaria) with emission-free solar power directly from the roof. The contractor is Naturstrom AG, for which Sarah Debor, head of the Urban Residential and Commercial business unit, explained: "In times of fossil fuel crises, a supply of solar power directly from the roof can mitigate the effects of wildly fluctuating prices on the energy markets and relieve consumers."
Tenant electricity is therefore a plus for real estate developers and landlords, Debor said. As investor and developer of the residential quarter, Hans Holzmüller explained that the tenant electricity tariff "direktstrom Antoniusberg" is available exclusively to the 90 residential units in the four buildings equipped with photovoltaics. He is a mix of the local solar power and green electricity from the network.
Naturstrom operates four photovoltaic systems with a total output of 99.5 kW on the houses, which are to generate a total of about 94,000 kWh of electricity per year. 60 percent of this could be consumed directly in the four buildings. Compared to the German electricity mix, the photovoltaic systems thus avoided about 32.6 tons of CO2 per year.
The residential complex near Straubing's city center comprises a total of nine buildings with 156 barrier-free apartments for singles, couples and families. A sustainable on-site power supply was particularly important to the developer. "The tenant electricity concept not only helps the wallet, but also the climate," the builder explained. In addition to the special attention to ecological planning, Holzmüller pointed out that one-fifth of the living space is rented out as subsidized housing on favorable terms.
