The Nuremberg-based energy company N-Ergie wants to quadruple its power generation from renewable sources by 2030. For this goal, wind farms with 90 MW of capacity are to be built.
N-Ergie plans to quadruple its power generation from renewable sources by 2030, the Nuremberg-based company announced on August 2. The focus is on wind turbines, he said. Currently, N-Ergie is involved in seven wind farms with a total of 37 turbines with a maximum total output of 30 MW. By 2030, the wind power capacity is to grow to 120 MW. In parallel, photovoltaics are also being expanded; the company currently has 26 solar parks with a capacity of around 130 MW.
In addition to the expansion of renewables, the expansion of the power grid is the key factor for the success of the energy turnaround. Around 70,000 decentralized generation plants currently feed into N-Ergie's power grid, which covers almost 28,000 kilometers, mostly PV ground-mounted systems. N-Ergie Netz plans to invest around one billion euros by 2030 - in the transformation of the power grid alone.
While the realization of solar parks takes a good two years, it currently takes around seven years from regional planning to the commissioning of a wind power plant, writes N-Ergie. A wind farm with four turbines with a total capacity of 24 MW is already being planned in the community of Langenaltheim (Weissenburg-Gunzenhausen district). By 2030, numerous other wind farms are to be built through cooperation and coordination, i.e. in intensive collaboration with municipal partners and at selected locations.
"Wind complements the generation profile of PV very well, as it also blows at night and in times when the sun is weak - that's why wind farms are indispensable for the success of the energy turnaround," explained Maik Render, spokesman for the Board of Management of N-Ergie. He said that green electricity is particularly valuable if it can also be used, transported away or stored at the same time. "We advocate a coordinated approach, which means intensive coordination with municipalities and planning associations on the location and dimensioning of the new plant," Render said.
Together, he said, the realization of the projects can be accelerated and unnecessary costs avoided, as well as ensuring regional value creation. Together with the municipalities of Langenaltheim and Monheim (Donau-Ries district), N-Ergie will push ahead with the Langenaltheim project, he said. With the wind power plants citizens are to be involved locally.
Parallel to it the project development with the appraisals necessary for it, as for example a species protection-legal examination and a shade throw appraisal is started. With the electricity from these plants alone, around 13,500 households can be supplied annually. In the neighboring district of Langenaltheim-Rehlingen, N-Ergie has also implemented an open-space PV plant with citizen participation, which has an installed capacity of 2 MW and will soon go into operation.
