The municipal energy supplier in Coburg has joined the Franconian municipal utility cooperation "Hexa.Kon".
In Greek, "Hexa" means six, but in Franconian the word apparently does not always mean half a dozen. In any case, the municipal utility cooperation "Hexa.Kon" previously had five partners. And it was certainly not due to linguistic sensitivities that the municipal utilities in Bamberg, Ebermannstadt, Hof, Neustadt bei Coburg and Rödental now reportedly have another shareholder in their ranks. As the Coburg utility company "SÜC Energie und H2O" has announced, it has joined the cooperation for the sake of electricity purchasing.
"This allows us to join forces in energy procurement and reduce risks at the same time," says SÜC Managing Director Wilhelm Austen about the company partnership. His colleague on the management board, Franz-Josef Loscar, points to the synergies and optimization potential arising from the alliance, "which will lead to cost savings for everyone." According to its own information, "Hexa.Kon" bundles an annual purchasing volume of more than 750 million kWh of electricity.
The company SÜC Energie und H2O is 96.4 percent owned by Städtische Werke Überlandwerke Coburg GmbH (SÜC). The remaining shares are held by three municipalities in the district. The parent company SÜC has around 60,000 households and 2,500 commercial enterprises as customers. The number of employees is around 400.
