Since September 15, applications for the "Federal Funding for Efficient Heat Networks" (BEW) can be submitted. Both new and existing networks can receive funding.
The Federal Funding for Efficient Heat Networks (BEW) came into force on September 15. This means that applications can now be submitted, the Bafa announced. With the entry into force of the BEW, the funding announcement on model projects heat network systems 4.0 of December 11, 2019 (WNS 4.0) is repealed.
For the BEW, the industry has waited just under two years. Last was still missing the approval under state aid law on the part of the EU. This came at the beginning of August. Until mid-2028, operators of district heating networks can now use the subsidies for conversion to more environmentally friendly energy sources and for new construction.
According to the Federal Ministry of Economics, the subsidy program is intended to increasingly generate district heating from renewable energies and from waste heat from industrial processes. In addition, the district heating network is to be expanded.
The funding is aimed, among others, at energy supply companies, municipalities, municipal utilities, associations or cooperatives, which can receive grants for investments in heating networks through the new funding. The conversion of the heat supply is to be flanked apart from the promotion program with a surface covering local heat planning as central co-ordination instrument for local, efficient heat use.
