The Bavarian Electrolysis Infrastructure Funding Program (BayFELI) is launched today.

The Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs is funding the construction of up to 50 electrolysers for the production of green hydrogen from renewable energies throughout the Free State. Minister of Economic Affairs Hubert Aiwanger stressed the importance of this step for Bavaria: "Bavaria is becoming a producer of regional green hydrogen. The sooner we make regional hydrogen available, the faster we can implement the energy transition towards a CO2-free economy. The interest in the program is enormous. Since the funding guidelines were published in July, we have received numerous inquiries. This funding strengthens Bavaria's leading position in the hydrogen sector."

The funding program covers 45 percent of the acquisition costs for electrolysers and their directly related plant components, provided the plant has a minimum capacity of 1 megawatt. The first funding call covers 45 million euros, and a second call will be made next year.

Project outlines can be submitted now through Oct. 16, 2023, to the project management organization, VDI Technologiezentrum GmbH, at www.BayFELI.de. Further information on the funding call can also be found there. After the call is closed, the best outlines will be selected, and submitters will be invited to submit a full funding application.
