Federal Environment Minister Steffi Lemke today awarded ten companies as climate protection companies. They had been selected from about 200 applications by the advisory board of the climate protection enterprises registered association in a multi-stage procedure.  The companies contribute with innovative strategies in particular measure to the achievement of the German and European climate goals and are pioneers in their respective industry.

Federal Environment Minister Steffi Lemke: "Climate and biodiversity crisis threaten us equally. With climate protection and climate adaptation measures, companies can also help to preserve and restore habitats and nature. From raw material extraction and throughout the entire production chain, companies need to be committed to this. The preservation of our livelihoods requires efforts from politicians and companies alike. Pioneers like the climate protection companies are all the more important, as the necessary transformations must also be tackled swiftly in the economy."

Jörg Schmidt, Chairman of the Climate Protection Companies: "For our members, climate protection is a strategic corporate goal with a clear roadmap for CO2 savings. The ten new climate protection companies have been ceremoniously accepted into our network of excellence today due to their great efforts for climate and environmental protection. Their performance should be an incentive and motivation for all companies to do the same. The best practices of our members exemplify this."

The companies stand out for their strategies of corporate sustainability and investments in renewable energies, energy efficiency and adaptation measures to climate change. Creative employee motivation projects for environmental and climate protection promote sustainable corporate development and demonstrate that the entire company is pulling together on the issue.
