The challenges of decarbonization and digitalization, rising electricity prices, new subsidy programs and constantly changing legal guidelines pose new challenges, especially for the manufacturing industry. Currently, there is a high demand for information on the topics of renewable process energy coverage, sector coupling, energy efficiency and quite explicitly the phase-out of fossil energy supply.
A good opportunity for information on legislative changes, new funding programs and energy efficiency measures can be found by commercial enterprises in a network. Participants benefit from the exchange of experience and can implement innovative projects in their own operations.
At our information event "Energy cost optimization in a network: focus on decarbonization" on May 18, 2022, Zapf KG from Schwaig near Nuremberg will present best-practice solutions. The goal is to establish a joint energy efficiency network.

In the run-up to the meeting, we spoke with Dr. Hannes Zapf, managing director of Zapf KG, about energy efficiency networks.

Dr. Hannes Zapf: As a medium-sized family businessman, I am glad and grateful that information and networking events for us SMEs are regularly and currently offered and organized via Bayern Innovativ. This is the best way for me to stay abreast of future issues and current research and innovation topics.
Dr. Hannes Zapf: The network promotes a view of the other companies that have the same challenges. The network participants learn among themselves and use the swarm intelligence. And they can help organize their own energy solutions regionally in networks.
Dr. Hannes Zapf: We need more decentralized, regional solutions to organize "green" energy supply with generation, storage and use by regional companies.
