This year, the leading trade fair E-world will once again take place at the beginning of the year as usual.
February instead of May, freezing instead of spring: after two summer dates in 2022 and 2023, the 23rd edition of E-world is returning to the usual trade fair date at the beginning of the year, as announced. And while some people may be wishing for the warmer outside temperatures of the past two years during their cigarette break, there is no alternative to returning to the traditional date of the leading trade fair for the energy industry at the beginning of the year for E-world Managing Director Stefanie Hamm. "Holding the event in spring or summer required good coordination with numerous other events in order to avoid direct clashes of dates," says Hamm when asked by E&M: "We have succeeded in doing this in the last two years, but our exhibitors still had to prepare and follow up on many dates in parallel in a short space of time."
And she expects many exhibitors. E-world already set a new record in 2023 with 820 exhibitors, but this year's figure will fall again: Around 900 exhibitors have signed up. "In view of the fact that there are only nine months between the last event and the upcoming trade fair, we particularly appreciate this development," says Hamm.
The exhibition space is also increasing to a record level this year. However, hardly anyone is likely to be put off by this. "We are sensing a great deal of enthusiasm and anticipation for the event and expect visitor numbers to be on a par with 2020," says Hamm.
More space for hydrogen, energy technology and real estate
More space will be given to hydrogen, among other things, which will move to Hall 5 for the first time this year in the form of the "Hydrogen Solutions" exhibition area. The "Trading Floor" will also be moving to Hall 2, where it will have significantly more space than before.
In addition to numerous new exhibitors, new program partners will also be represented at E-world this year: For example, the German Engineering Federation (VDMA) will shed light on the technical aspects of the energy transition and the German Property Federation (ZIA) will present the viewpoint of the real estate industry.
Hamm herself, she says, is particularly keen on the "Career Day" on the third day of the trade fair. "Our industry urgently needs young talent to tackle the current and future challenges." In previous years, graduates have already been specifically invited to E-world.
Now the organizers want to go one step further and open the event to students of all semesters as well as pupils from the final year classes of surrounding schools. At "CEO meets Student", for example, managers and students will discuss specialist energy industry topics on stage. There will also be "challenges" for young visitors at various trade fair stands.
Why the industry likes the February date
But above all, she is looking forward to seeing many familiar faces at the "industry's class reunion", says the E-world Managing Director. Here, too, the early date is a clear advantage: discussions held at the trade fair can be optimally continued in the following months without interruption due to the vacation or summer break. Accordingly, the response in the industry to the decision to return to February was consistently positive.
E-world energy & water will take place from February 20 to 22 at Messe Essen, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the first two days and until 5 p.m. on the last day. Prior to this, the Energy Leadership Meeting will once again take place on February 19 under the motto "Perspectives for the energy world of tomorrow". Further information on the trade fair and the supporting program can be found on the E-world website.
