To promote the ramp-up of the German hydrogen industry, the DWV names 68 measures. A corresponding strategy paper has now published the association.
On annually 964 million to 1.362 billion kWh, the National Hydrogen Council estimates the need for climate-neutral hydrogen and climate-neutral manufactured hydrogen derivatives for the years 2040 to 2050.
To meet this demand and achieve the German government's goal of making Germany the "lead market for green hydrogen technologies" by 2030, the German Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association (DWV) has developed and now published a concept for a "National Hydrogen Strategy H2.0."
The paper includes a total of 68 measures along the entire value chain. Among them are the demand:
- for clear framework conditions that ensure the production of green hydrogen in the required quantities and stimulate the application and demand for green hydrogen products in the sectors of industry, refineries, mobility, energy and heat - to ramp up green hydrogen production to establish hydrogen market economy, ensure transformation of energy-intensive sectors and create industrial jobs, - ensure infrastructure and storage expansion and imports to secure demand-driven supply for industry and civil society, - accelerate necessary planning and permitting processes, and - ensure training and skilled labor supply.
The consideration of the 68 measures in the update of the national hydrogen strategy is crucial for a successful ramp-up of the green hydrogen market economy in Germany, DWV said. Only with a political roadmap anchored in the national hydrogen strategy will it be possible to pave the way for companies to achieve the necessary investment security for the transformation to a supply-secure and defossilized energy economy.
