The commissioning of the 400,000 PV system is an example of how each individual can contribute to the energy transition. Many more examples citizens can experience at our Bavarian Energy Days.

Bavaria's Minister of Economic Affairs Hubert Aiwanger today launched the Bavarian Energy Days, which will be held from July 14 to 16 under the motto "Energiewende. Here. Now." At around 130 events in all administrative districts, the energy turnaround will be experienced and made visible. In this context, the commissioning of the 400,000 photovoltaic system installed in the distribution network of Bayernwerk Netz GmbH (Bayernwerk) was a fitting starting signal. Aiwanger commented: "The energy turnaround is a joint task. I am pleased that citizens are installing PV modules on their own initiative. The state should stay out of this, to prescribe to the citizens what they must do. With obligation and you, dear citizen, must build modules on the roof, we will not create the energy turnaround. The federal government should rather improve the framework conditions so that it is worthwhile to generate one's own electricity, rather than constantly coming up with new regulations. Many players are already working to help us achieve our goal of a climate-neutral Bavaria. This is exactly what we want to show at the Bavarian Energy Days. For three days, citizens can visit hydroelectric power plants and transformer stations as well as passive houses or the worldwide unique Agri-PV open space plant in Althegnenberg. As a sunshine state, Bavaria offers the best conditions for photovoltaics. We welcome any commitment from homeowners, municipalities and industrial companies to the expansion of renewable energies. Because only together will we achieve decarbonization. Thus, photovoltaic systems from small producers also make an important contribution to the energy transition. That's why I hope that the Meier family's photovoltaic plant in Altdorf will be followed by many more. The 400,000 plant in the Bayernwerk network with an output of around 10 kilowatt hours peak is just the beginning and should be an impetus for many more solar initiatives."

Till Sunday, around 130 events throughout Bavaria will show how the energy turnaround can work on a large and small scale. In order to create more awareness of the energy consumption of electrical appliances and how modern models can help the environment, the districts of Rottal-Inn and Dingolfing-Landau, together with the Isar-Inn Waste Management Association (AWV), are looking for the oldest refrigerator in their districts. The winners will receive financial grants for the purchase of an energy-efficient new appliance.

In every administrative district of Bavaria, there will be a wealth of events from July 14 to 16 on the occasion of the Bavarian Energy Days to inform and exchange ideas about energy. Here are seven examples of the variety of topics from the seven administrative districts:

1.      Upper Bavaria: Taking a tour of southern Germany's largest solar park, Solarpark Schornhof
2.      Lower Bavaria: Balcony power plant for home simply self-built - workshop on electricity generation
3.      Upper Palatinate: um:welt - the energy education center for Bavaria
4.      Upper Franconia: R regional energy supply and citizen participation
5.      Middle Franconia: Synergy, the energy saving festival in Fürth
6.      Lower Franconia: With tailwind to climate neutrality - citizen wind farm Sailershäuser Wald
7.      Swabia: Energiewende zum Anfassen im Wasserkraftwerk Meitingen
