Relieve the local power connection and create significantly more charging points per location: This promises the Munich-based company "ChargeX".

Two use cases have been considered by the Munich-based electric service provider Charge X for its new charging concept:

  • On the one hand, pool vehicles that are charged at night at the company site in line with the grid could relieve the local charging network during the day and provide energy for other electric cars.
  • On the other hand, company car drivers with their own wallbox could charge their electric car at home at night in line with the grid and then relieve the charging network at the company site during the day after the drive to work.

This is made possible, Charge X informs, by an extension of the self-developed "Aqueduct" charging system. This already allows the charging of up to ten vehicles on only one power connection via an alternating current (AC) microgrid. The plug-and-play extension "Aqueduct Power Sharing Module," which can be retrofitted to all systems delivered since December 2021, communicates in accordance with the Iso 15118 charging standard and separates the microgrid into two nanogrids. One of these will continue to be supplied by the local power grid. The second nanogrid, separated from the power grid, is supplied by the feeding electric car: an off-grid solution that bypasses regulatory hurdles and does not require approval from the grid operator.

The Munich-based company, which was launched in 2018, did not yet disclose exactly when the module will be available. However, a "timely market launch" is possible.
