Building 2030: Scenarios for a sustainable building turnaround

In the research project "Building 2030", the Fraunhofer IAO, together with six supporting associations and chambers of the German construction and real estate industry, investigated the potential for the transformation of the industry. In the short report, three alternative future scenarios are delivered, key factors are identified and fields of action for the planning, building, operating and deconstruction of tomorrow are shown.
Holistic perspectives for the future of the construction and real estate industry to integrate it more strongly as part of the change processes of the built environment in the city, country and infrastructure are increasingly in demand. In this study, future scenarios derive a basis for decision-making to develop strategies and highlight the interplay of technical, economic, environmental, political and social changes.
