Wind power has even in the Ausbauschwachen Bavaria more popularity than commonly assumed. So now several dozen heads of municipalities appeal to the government in the Free State.
In the year of the Bavarian state election, more and more mayors confront the state government in the Free State with their promises for greater wind power expansion. A colorfully mixed party-political initiative called "Together Successfully Renewable" has now made an open appeal to the coalition led by Markus Söder (CSU) with the Free Voters. Its goal: better basic conditions and political support for the decentralized development of the wind energy.
To the first Unterzeichnenden Renate Deniffel (CSU), 1. Mayoress of the municipality Wildpoldsried (Swabian district upper Allgaeu), ranks likewise like Scheinfelds mayor Claus Seifert (SPD/Franconian district Neustadt to the Aisch bath Windsheim) and Rupert Steigenberger (citizen community), uppermost citizen in mountain (upper Bavarian circle Starnberg). They demand in their five emphasis comprehensive appeal among other things a "master plan home energy" and in it in particular the accelerated development of the wind power.
The initiative believes to be able to advance in the union the local energy turn better. The appeal is to join further Amtsgenosseninnen and - comrades. In its choice of words in the direction of Munich the federation gives itself moderately. From the Söder administration it demands a "powerful support" of the municipalities on their way into the climatic neutrality and a courageous occurrence ("with all means") for the wind energy.
In words well, in deeds improvement-worth
In announcements Bavaria's state government expressed in the recent past rudimentarily the will for the energy turn also locally. It softened the 10-H rule in the fall of 2022. New turbines will no longer necessarily have to be ten times their height (with modern turbine types, this is easily more than two kilometers) from residential areas, but "only" 1,000 meters. In this way, the Söder cabinet wanted to clear the way for an initial 1,000 new wind turbines.
However, the German Wind Energy Association (BWE) comes to a different conclusion about the effectiveness of the state's policy. Neither the expansion nor the approval figures in the first quarter indicate an upswing. Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria, grouped together as the "southern region," bumbled along at 7.8 percent of new turbine construction nationwide. The share of new permits was even lower at 4.5 percent. The result: In the first three months, only two wind power plants in Bavaria received the go-ahead from the authorities. According to a study by the Association of Bavarian Energy and Water Industries, however, the Free State would have to add two plants (each with a capacity of 5.5 MW) per week to achieve the goal of climate neutrality by 2040.
The appeal includes, in addition to the expansion of home energies four other demands gen state government:
- communicative and political support for more speed
- faster and legally secure approval procedures
- Strengthen acceptance and local forms of participation
- Faster expansion of distribution networks
Within two weeks, four times as many supporters
Now one might remark that the number of supporting heads of administration is still manageable. That is it in fact, in view of more than 2,000 politically independent municipalities and over 70 districts in the Free State. Therefore, to date, as of June 2, 42 signatories represent about 2 percent of the target group. However the support of the appeal within two weeks nearly quadrupled, started the initiative at the end of May nevertheless at first from eleven mayors and mayors.
Support receives the mayors and mayors with their appeal of the federation for nature protection Bavaria and from the non-profit initiative climaticneutral Germany. Their spokeswoman Sandra Hollmann expresses itself opposite our editorship anyhow confidently: We hope that in the next days and weeks still many further Bürgermeisterinnen and mayors join the appeal." In Bavaria, "the wind is just turning."
The appeal " Successfully renewable together " has a presence on the Internet.
