The current transformation process, especially in the automotive industry, requires far-reaching adjustments to the value creation networks - as well as the qualifications of current and future employees from the battery ecosystem in Bavaria.
The B³ Battery Education Network Bavaria (B3) aims to make a substantial contribution as a "battery competence trio" by means of tailor-made qualification concepts for industry and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and their employees throughout Bavaria.
The project will start with needs analyses based on economic and vocational training aspects. Subsequently, tailor-made qualification offers for the battery ecosystem will be developed and then consolidated.
A powerful consortium
The project consists of a network with expertise - six renowned battery research institutions in Bavaria, the SKZ and bbw, two Bavarian educational institutions, Bayern Innovativ as an innovation and transfer network in Bavaria and the IAW of RWTH Aachen University as a supra-regional partner.
Project partner research:
- Bavarian Center for Battery Technology (BayBatt) at the University of Bayreuth (UBT), Chair of Environmentally Compatible Production Technology
- Fraunhofer R&D Center for Electromobility Bavaria FZEB at the Fraunhofer Institute for Silicate Research (FISC)
- Fraunhofer Institute for Casting, Composite and Processing Technology (IGCV)
- Hochschule für angewandte Wissenschaften Landshut (HAWL)
- Institute for Machine Tools and Industrial Management (iwb) at the Technical University of Munich
- RWTH Aachen University, Chair and Institute of Ergonomics (IAW)
- Technology Transfer Center for Electromobility at the Würzburg-Schweinfurt University of Applied Sciences THWS

Qualification offers with high practical relevance
Three qualification focuses are planned in the project in the form of short-term modules (Modul-Batt), work process-oriented measures (APO-Batt) and offers for trainers (Coach-Batt). The qualification offers should have a high practical relevance and will be developed by development tandems consisting of a specialist partner (university or research institution) and a didactic partner (training provider) in iterative development processes and with the strong involvement of representatives of the target groups. This means that training courses can also be offered at existing institutions of the project partners, such as the iwb of the Technical University of Munich
Aim: Qualification and development of skills for future requirements - qualification concepts
The project also focuses on developing skills, particularly for independent and flexible solutions to professional situations within the "battery ecosystem".
The strong practical orientation is supplemented by virtual learning units in a learning management system (LMS) and makes it possible to offer very modular and individual "learning journeys" and to complete them with practical modules in the learning laboratories of the research partners.
The educational institutions aim to sustainably consolidate the developed qualification concepts from the sixth year onwards. The innovation cluster ensures broad networking in the target groups at industrial companies and SMEs as well as in the education networks.
