Municipalities could save a lot of money through systematic energy management, according to the KEA-BW. Support for it gives it of federation and countries.
KEM is called the magic word, with which cities, municipalities and districts could save according to analyses of the Baden-Württemberger climatic protection and energy agency (KEA-BW) up to 20 per cent of their energy and water costs. KEM stands thereby for "local energy management" and summarizes the ranges energy controlling, operational optimization of the existing plant engineering, janitor training courses and energy-saving behavior of the personnel.
The measures, which according to data of the KEA BW in a city with 20,000 inhabitants and inhabitants annually savings of approximately 90,000 to 120,000 euro could cause, required thereby no or only small investments. For example, energy consumption could first be reduced by optimizing operations. In the next step then by the examination of the dimensioning of the technical plants future investment costs could be lowered.
For the introduction of a systematic KEM the free management "KomEMS", a common development of the energy agencies of Baden-Wuerttemberg, Saxonia, Saxonia-Anhalt and Thuringia, is available. Also the support by trained "Kom.EMS coaches" as well as by the authority center energy management of the KEA BW is possible.
If municipalities need additional personnel for their energy management, they could let themselves promote this of the federation over the local guideline, it is called in a report of the KEA BW. The subsidy amounts to 70 to 90 percent. For structural coaching for quality assurance, there is also support from the state in Baden-Württemberg.
